Students in 11th CP BLC have been given a mission: to memorize Titania’s speech to Oberon about why she will not give him the changeling boy. We did some activities designed to help us become more familiar with this text today in class, including a close reading of the passage. At the end of class, we tried a quick memorization practice to see how much we had already retained. Students should practice the passage over the weekend. In order to help you, I have made an mp3 recording of myself reading it that you can download onto your iPod and listen to. I think it helps to hear something when you’re trying to memorize it.
Students in 9th CP2 GCL finished Act 1.2 in which we learned that Juliet is Capulet’s only daughter, and he wants Paris to wait a couple of years before he marries her. Also, Capulet is having a large feast, and the girl Romeo is in love with, Rosaline, is invited! He and Benvolio decide to crash the party. We began 1.3 in which Lady Capulet wants to talk to Juliet about something important. We discussed the relationship between Juliet and the Nurse.
Students in 11th CP2 BLC finished Act I of Taming of the Shrew. For Monday, students should complete a character map showing the relationships among the characters, including disguises and connections. This will help you study for our quiz over Act I on Monday.
Students in Writing Seminar II practiced paraphrasing and learned how to take notes for the research paper on note cards. Students should have their note cards by Tuesday of next week so that we can begin researching in the library. Students also received due dates for each part of the research paper project. For Monday, students should complete the MLA Scavenger Hunt, which is worth 20 points.
I don’t have a BookTalk podcast ready for you all today. I guess I need to get back into the swing of school, too. We also missed this week’s Tech Tip. I invite you to ask me about your tech questions, and I will try to create a Tech Tip podcast or video. I have a small bank of potential topics provided last semester, but I can always use more ideas, and frankly, I would like the Tech Tips to be helpful, so focusing on what you want to learn is ideal.
Shabbat Shalom, and have a good weekend everyone.

Mrs. Huff,
I greatly appreciate you sending out emails so that you can help us succeed in your class. However, it would be helpful if your blog entries were a little shorter, and a little less detailed. If there was less information, more students would read, comment on, and get more out of your entries.
Sincerely,
Eric T.

Mrs. Huff,
I really liked that you made a recording available for us to listen to of the passage that we have to memorize. Suprisingly, I’ve listened to it a couple times, and it actually really does help to hear it outloud! Thanks for putting it up.
